Electrical and Instrumentation Apprentice

Kickstart your career in the electricity generation industry and develop a broad range of skills through this hands-on apprenticeship at Stanwell Power Station, located 22km west of Rockhampton in Central Queensland.

As an Electrical & Instrumentation Apprentice, you'll complete a dual trade qualification, gaining a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician and a Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control over a five-year apprenticeship. This is an exciting opportunity to earn while you learn with one of Queensland's largest and most reliable electricity generators.

Working alongside experienced tradespeople and industry experts, you'll develop practical skills maintaining and supporting critical plant equipment that helps power Queensland.

Key activities include:

• Gain hands-on experience whilst studying towards nationally recognised trade qualifications.
• Learn from experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Tradespeople in a large-scale power generation environment.
• Develop technical skills in electrical systems, instrumentation and plant maintenance.
• Participate in TAFE training and on-the-job learning throughout the apprenticeship.
• Enjoy a 4-day work week and the opportunity to live and work in the Rockhampton region.
• Contribute to teams that value safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Some of the projects and tasks you will be involved in include:

• Conducting investigations and identifying solutions to plant faults.
• Calibrating, testing and maintaining electrical and instrumentation equipment.
• Performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities across the station.
• Assisting with plant inspections, testing and commissioning activities.
• Participating in safe work planning and risk assessments.
• Maintaining a safe and tidy work environment.

About you

To be successful, you will:

• Preferably have completed Year 12 (or equivalent) prior to commencement.
• Demonstrate a genuine interest in electrical, instrumentation or technical trades.
• Be motivated to achieve strong results in both work and study.
• Have a willingness to learn and complete all TAFE requirements associated with the apprenticeship.
• Possess good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Be committed to working safely and following site procedures.
