Business Trainee

About the role

Kickstart your career in the energy industry and develop a broad range of skills through this hands-on traineeship at Stanwell Power Station, located 22km west of Rockhampton in Central Queensland.

As a Business Trainee, you'll complete a Certificate IV in Business over a two-year traineeship while gaining practical experience across a range of business functions that support one of Queensland's largest and most reliable electricity generators. This is an exciting opportunity to earn while you learn, develop valuable workplace skills and build a rewarding career.

Working alongside experienced professionals and subject matter experts, you'll gain exposure to business operations while contributing to teams that help power Queensland.

Key activities include:

  • Gain hands-on experience whilst studying towards a nationally recognised qualification.
  • Learn from experienced professionals across a range of business functions.
  • Develop practical skills in business administration, coordination, communication and business systems
  • Participate in structured training and on-the-job learning throughout the traineeship.
  • Enjoy a 4-day work week and the opportunity to live and work in the Rockhampton region.
  • Contribute to teams that value safety, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Some of the projects and tasks you will be involved in include:

  • Providing administrative support to various teams.
  • Assisting with document management, records and reporting.
  • Coordinating meetings, calendars and team activities.
  • Supporting the preparation of business communications and presentations.
  • Maintaining databases and business systems.
  • Assisting with projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About you

To be successful, you will:

  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in business, administration or professional careers.
  • Be motivated to achieve strong results in both work and study.
  • Have a willingness to learn and complete all training requirements associated with the traineeship.
  • Possess strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Be committed to working safely and following workplace procedures.
  • Be proficient with, or willing to learn, a range of digital technologies and business systems.
