About the role
This is a full-time opportunity located at Tarong Power Stations in the South Burnett region of Queensland.
If you’re seeking to step away from city FIFO, long commutes or shutdown-to-shutdown work, this role offers a more balanced, long-term lifestyle without stepping back from technically challenging work. You’ll be part of the Electrical and I&C Maintenance Team, working across complex plant, systems and processes that support safe and reliable power generation.
This is a hands-on, technically demanding role where you’ll be trusted to diagnose issues, solve problems and contribute to the ongoing performance and reliability of a large-scale site. You’ll also play a key role in sharing knowledge and supporting the development of apprentices and junior team members.
The Instrumentation and Control Technician (I&C) role resides within the Electrical and I&C Maintenance Team and reports directly to the Instrument & Control Team Leader. The I&C Technician performs fault finding, investigations and analysis on technically complex plant, systems and processes.
Key activities include:
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of process instrumentation
- Carry out complex fault finding and implement innovative solutions
- Provide technical assistance to the Electrical and Mechanical Teams and mentor Electrical/I&C Apprentices
- Monitor and evaluate plant performance to advise opportunities for improvement in availability, reliability and cost effectiveness
- Complete assigned technical work in a safe and timely manner
About you
- QLD Electrical Mechanic Licence (Mandatory)
- Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control
- Associate Degree in Engineering (Desirable)
- Proven experience diagnosing and resolving complex instrumentation faults
- Strong understanding of plant systems within heavy industrial environments
- Ability to work autonomously and make sound technical decisions
- Experience mentoring or supporting developing trades (desirable)
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, reliability and continuous improvement
