Stanwell’s Engineering Career Acceleration Program is continuing into its second year, for early-career engineers who want more than a desk job. Whether you're a recent graduate or have up to five years of post-grad experience, this is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience at Meandu Mine next door to Tarong Power Station, just two hours from Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast.

What You’ll Be Doing
Meandu Mine is one of Queensland's largest open-cut coal mining operations, supplying fuel to the adjacent Tarong Power Stations. Working on the Client side, the site operates a diverse fleet of heavy mining equipment, including draglines, excavators, mobile mining equipment, coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP) infrastructure, conveyors, pumps, and fixed processing assets. As a Mechanical Engineer you will:
- Managing minor capital and operational projects (typically up to ~$5M)
- Supporting end-to-end project delivery, from scoping through to execution
- Assisting with budgets, schedules, and project reporting
- Coordinating with senior engineers, contractors, and site stakeholders
- Working closely with the mine operator and external consultants
- Contributing to business cases, approvals, and procurement activities
- Supporting governance processes, documentation, and compliance requirements
- Engaging with stakeholders to align project outcomes and priorities
- Supporting asset management across mobile and fixed plant (including draglines and CHPP)
- Building practical experience across plant systems, equipment, and site operations
- Assisting with risk assessments and ensuring safe delivery of works
- Contributing to a strong safety culture and following all HSE protocols

About You
- Completing or recently completed a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering within the last five years, with a qualification recognised in Australia
- Demonstrated interest in mining, heavy industry, infrastructure, energy, or other asset-intensive industries
- Interested in developing a career in project delivery, asset management, and operational engineering
- Willing to learn governance, project management processes, and structured ways of working
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders
- Safety-focused with a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving
- Hold a current Australian driver's licence and full Australian working rights
- Willing to relocate to the South Burnett region, with initial relocation assistance provided
