About the role
This is a full time opportunity located at Tarong Power Stations. We are seeking experienced Electrical Fitter Mechanics to join the Maintenance team. This role is focused on fixed plant maintenance within the operating power station, supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical generation assets.
As a recognised lead tradesperson, you will undertake preventative and corrective maintenance, fault investigations and complex technical work across a broad range of plant and systems. Unlike area‑based roles, this position provides whole‑of‑plant exposure, offering significant variety and technical challenge.
This is a site‑based, full‑time role working a 4‑day week (Monday to Thursday), ideal for experienced tradespeople seeking stability, variety and long‑term career progression.
Key activities include:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide range of fixed plant electrical equipment
- Diagnose and rectify complex faults and breakdowns to restore plant reliability
- Maintain, inspect and install electrical equipment, including work in hazardous areas
- Support plant modifications, refurbishments and outage activities
- Lead or support complex maintenance tasks and provide technical guidance to others
- Work within Stanwell’s permit, isolation and Safe System of Work processes
- Complete technical documentation including work orders, test results and maintenance history
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability and performance
About you
You are a highly experienced Electrical Fitter Mechanic with a strong background in power generation or heavy industrial environments. You take pride in quality workmanship, operate comfortably in complex plant environments, and understand the importance of strict safety and isolation processes.
- Trade Certificate – Electrical Fitter Mechanic
- Current Queensland Electrical Fitter Mechanic Licence
- Well established post‑trade experience in a power station or heavy industrial environment
- Strong understanding of fixed plant electrical systems and their operation
- Proven experience in preventative and corrective maintenance of complex plant
- Demonstrated capability working within formal permit and plant isolation systems
- Sound computer skills, including use of CMMS and technical documentation
- Strong safety awareness and working knowledge of HSE, environmental and quality requirements
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a team environment
