About the role
Cid Burke took the role of Operational Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator in 1988 and showed genuine care and commitment to the safety and wellbeing of all employees. He was also an active and well-known community member, and was much loved and respected in both his workplace and his community. After Cid passed away in 2008, a scholarship was set up to assist a young person from the South Burnett to gain a qualification in Workplace Health and Safety or related field.
What’s on offer?
We understand the hardships faced by students in local regional communities to attend university. These scholarships are to assist a student with the struggle of living and studying away from the region.
The scholarship program includes:
- Financial support: $10,000 per year for up to four years.
- Mentoring and engagement, quarterly catch-ups to check progress.
- vacation work opportunities during June or Christmas holidays in a health and safety and environment support role.
- A pathway to our Graduate Program upon completion of your degree.
Who can apply?
- Residents of the South Burnett region (or planning to be)
- School leavers (or within two years) enrolled full-time in a Health, Safety & Environment or related degree.
- Applicants who demonstrate community involvement and a commitment to safety.
