About the role

This is a full-time opportunity located at Tarong Power Stations.

The Senior Technician - Heavy Electrical is responsible for maintaining heavy electrical maintenance activities across Tarong Power Stations, as well as the ongoing development of the electrical safe systems of work. This role is to provide expert heavy electrical advice together with application of technical knowledge in resolving complex problems and identifying opportunities for plant improvement in conjunction with engineering staff.

Key activities include:

  • Administer Switching Isolation templates and steps within ePAS (Safe Work System) and develop standard switching templates. Responsible for fulfilling certain functions of switching administrator.
  • As the main contact for Tarong Power Stations, liaise with Powerlink and Ergon to maintain various existing work processes between Stanwell, Powerlink, and Ergon.
  • Oversee switching sheet processes and relevant upgrade and testing in safe work system software (ePAS).
  • Work with colleagues to gain various high level switching competencies and work with Superintendent Electrical System and Compliance to maintain these records.

About you

  • Electrical Trade qualification (QLD licensed Electrical Mechanic/Electrical Fitter/Mechanic)
  • Associate degree in relevant Engineering discipline (preferred, not essential)
  • Extensive trade experience in a thermal Power Station or a heavy industrial environment.
  • Switching program writing and coordination with demonstrated switching of high voltage and low voltage switching program.
  • Experience in managing technical projects to deliver on time, in budget and as per specifications.
