About the role
This is a permanent and full-time opportunity located at Tarong Power Station.
Stanwell is seeking a technically skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Advisor to join the team at Tarong Power Station. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the station maintains its strong record of environmental performance and compliance with legislative obligations.
Key activities include:
- Lead environmental compliance activities across multiple domains, including emissions, discharges, and National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) reporting.
- Operate and interpret data from key systems such as LIMS, Pi, and EDMS, ensuring environmental data integrity and actionable insights.
- Oversee the environmental monitoring program and provide expert advice on pollution control, sampling protocols, and trend analysis.
- Support the business in meeting legislative requirements across the Environmental Protection Act, associated licences, and relevant standards.
- Develop and maintain strong internal relationships to influence operational decision-making with a sustainability and compliance focus.
- Provide technical oversight on waste, air, water, biodiversity, and noise management, ensuring alignment with both regulatory and business expectations.
- Represent the business with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders to maintain a constructive and transparent environmental dialogue.
About you
- Extensive experience in an environmental advisory or compliance-focused role within a high-risk or industrial setting (power, mining, or processing preferred).
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge in environmental databases and monitoring systems – including LIMS, Pi, EDMS, and equivalent platforms.
- Practical experience in pollution monitoring, sampling, and analysis, with specific knowledge of NPI reporting and pollution licencing requirements.
- A high level of understanding and application of Queensland and Commonwealth environmental legislation and compliance frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver briefings, reports, and stakeholder presentations.
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
