About the role
This is a full-time opportunity located at Stanwell Power Station, just 25 minutes from Rockhampton. As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll provide technical support and hands-on maintenance for power station plant and equipment, ensuring reliability and efficiency across a diverse range of assets.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining Stanwell’s reputation for safety, reliability, and innovation, with opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career within Queensland’s largest electricity generator.
Key activities include:
- Performing routine and breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting faults, and coordinating work parties
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to plant performance and reliability
- Managing work activities in accordance with Stanwell’s Safe Work Systems and compliance standards
- Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver operational excellence
- Participating in on-call rosters and outage projects as required
About you
- You hold a Certificate III in Mechanical Trade or an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or recognised equivalent)
- Applicants currently completing an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering are also strongly encouraged to apply
- We welcome applications from individuals interested in beginning study towards the Associate Degree, which will be fully funded over a five-year period
- You have hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting equipment in a power station, refinery, smelter, wash plant, gas plant or heavy industry environment
- Have demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and technical aptitude, able to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and plant data
- You are adaptable and thrive in a changing industry, able to adjust to new work structures, processes, and requirements
- Be proactive, take initiative, and contribute innovative solutions to improve plant performance and reliability
- Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, actively participating and building strong working relationships
- Have a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and upholding Stanwell’s values and Code of Conduct
- You manage your workload efficiently, prioritise tasks, and deliver outcomes independently
- Willing to participate in on-call rosters and respond to out-of-hours maintenance activities as required
- You are keen to support and mentor others, sharing knowledge and contributing to a positive team culture
