Graduate Program
Stanwell’s Graduate Program is designed to build capability, expand networks and help graduates step confidently into the energy sector.
As a graduate, you’ll contribute from day one, taking part in business-critical projects and gaining hands-on experience across different sites and portfolios. You’ll also receive structured learning and development support, including coaching from experienced professionals in your field.
Graduates are employed on a permanent basis, giving you a strong foundation for future career growth.
Graduate intakes vary from year to year based on business needs. Areas of opportunity include:

Engineering Early Careers Acceleration Program
At Stanwell, we’re proud to support people at every stage of their career with the tools, training, and opportunities they need to thrive in the energy sector. Our Engineering Early Careers Acceleration Program is designed for early-career engineers who want more than a desk job.
From day one, you’ll gain hands-on experience on site, working with equipment, contributing to real projects, and learning from the people who keep our operations running. You’ll receive structured learning and development support to accelerate your growth, while working alongside RPEQ-qualified engineers and seasoned professionals passionate about mentoring the next generation.
Engineers in the program are employed on a permanent basis, giving you a strong foundation for long-term career growth at Stanwell.
This is your chance to build a meaningful engineering career, not from the sidelines but right where the work gets done.

Apprenticeships and traineeships
Stanwell offers structured programs for early career entrants to gain skills in line with national training standards, guided by experienced mentors committed to your development.
Applications typically open between May and July for the following year’s intake. To be eligible, applicants must have completed at least Year 10, and hold permanent residency or citizenship in Australia or New Zealand.

Work Experience for High School Students
Still at school and wondering what it’s like to work in energy?
Stanwell offers a five-day work experience program for secondary students across central and southern Queensland. Participants complete safety training and shadow team members to get a feel for the work we do and the environment we operate in.

Mid-career development
For those already working in the energy sector, there are growing opportunities to adapt your skills and knowledge to new technologies and renewable energy solutions.
Stanwell provides opportunities for employees to work across our asset portfolio which includes traditional thermal generation as well as renewables and firming energies. With our in-house training, external courses and continuous professional development programs, we aim to leave nobody behind as the energy industry evolves.

Cid Burke Workplace Health & Safety Scholarship
The Cid Burke Scholarship awards $10,000 to support students from Queensland’s South Burnett region who are pursuing a career in workplace or occupational health and safety.
Named in honour of a long-serving Tarong Power Station employee, the scholarship helps students cover course and living costs, and includes mentorship and vacation employment opportunities.
