About the role

This is a full-time opportunity located in Brisbane CBD.

The Senior Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Accountant is responsible for preparing data-driven financial planning, forecasting, and analysis for the business. They perform a key role in consolidating and analysing financial data from across the business, providing insights and communicating financial results to stakeholders.   

The FP&A team plays a pivotal role in optimising resource allocation, planning cycles, and cost management, thereby supporting the company's overall financial health and strategic direction.

Key activities include:

  • Continuously improve FP&A processes, systems, tools, and methodologies. Streamline financial reporting and analysis to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Coordinate the annual budgeting/planning process and rolling forecasts, ensuring they reflect the evolving needs of the energy industry.
  • Key involvement in the month-end consolidated reporting process and provide insights and recommendations for optimising financial performance for a transitioning energy business.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor in financial matters.
  • Assess financial risks within the energy industry and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to proactively advise on potential impacts.

About you

  • Demonstrated expertise in a similar role within an energy trading environment (desirable) or mining/construction/asset intensive sectors.
  • Exceptional financial acumen with the ability to communicate results for non-financial people to understand.
  • Experience consolidating and simplifying data from multiple and complex systems
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and membership of a professional association or working towards (e.g. CA/CPA).
