About the role

This is a full-time opportunity located at Stanwell Power Station, Rockhampton.

The Chemical Technician role ensures optimum chemistry conditions in the unit cycle, water treatment plant, cooling towers and other ancillary equipment. This role is expected to conduct routine maintenance tasks, monitor the condition of the plant, identify excursions, and investigate causes and carry out laboratory analytical functions, with the intention of preventing plant excursions and environmental non-compliance. Chemical Technicians are required to perform routine maintenance, will be required to perform operational activities within the water treatment and chemical plants and will be required to coordinate work party activities in accordance with the relevant policies, procedures, and standards. 

Key activities include:

  • Working in a chemical work group within a multi-discipline team.
  • Review and report chemical plant data regarding chemical processes.
  • Monitor plant performance issues, possible maintenance and production issues.
  • Maintain reliability of plant and equipment and have a sense of ownership for areas of plant.
  • Ensure that compliance across a range of areas is maintained.

About you

The following qualifications and skills are required:

  • Associate Degree or Bachelors of Science in Chemistry or working towards completion of.
  • Experience within a chemical environment is essential.
  • Strong background in analytical theory and technical competency with laboratory analysis.
  • Experience in the maintenance of a modern thermal power station or heavy industry.
  • Plant performance and efficiency monitoring.
