About the role

This is an opportunity for students located at Stanwell Power Station.

We are looking for two Mechanical Engineering students for a 36-week program at Stanwell Power Station. This is an opportunity to gain firsthand experience working alongside RPEQ qualified engineers on a working coal fired power plant.  This opportunity will run from the end of semester 2 this year until the start of semester 2 2026. This will be an opportunity to get develop your skills as a student whilst earning an income.

Key activities include:

• Get hands on experience from qualified Engineers and technicians on a working coal fired power plant
• Develop your knowledge of plant and equipment as you get hands on learning
• Gain exposure to mechanical and performance engineering
• See firsthand what an engineer would do after graduation

About you

• Currently studying a degree in Mechanical Engineering (either undergrad or postgrad)
• Be based near the power station, or willing to relocate for the duration of the placement
• Gain exposure to mechanical and performance engineering
• An interest in how a coal fired power station operates and an interest to develop your knowledge
