About the role

This is a permanent and full-time opportunity. Live and work in one of Stanwell’s locations (Brisbane, Rockhampton, or Kingaroy).

At Stanwell, our Renewable Maintenance Services business unit plays a vital role in shaping the future of energy in Queensland. Through Stanwell Asset Maintenance Company (SAMCo), we’re building the expertise and capability to support the maintenance of renewable energy assets.

This role is integral to supporting high voltage assets and protection systems across our expansive renewable business. The Senior High Voltage Electrical and Protection Engineer plays a crucial role ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our renewable energy assets. This includes maximising energy production, and minimising downtime through effective monitoring, maintenance, and control of high voltage assets and associated equipment.

Key activities include:

  • Develop and facilitate detailed HV asset management and testing strategies which ensure the plant continues to meet the objectives of the business plan with particular emphasis on long term asset management.
  • Continually evaluate the plant performance and long-term integrity, amend appropriate operations and maintenance strategies with the aim of improving efficiency, availability, reliability and optimising the overall equipment life cycle costs.
  • Develop and implement scope and frequency of all routine testing and condition monitoring work done on HV plant and protection systems to ensure availability and reliability of plant is maintained.
  • Initiate proposals, submit project feasibility options, and manage the execution of projects (e.g. planning, specifying, designing, overseeing of resources) to ensure timely and effective implementation of plant improvements while working within the constraints of the five-year capital budget.
  • Lead the communication and exchange of technical information knowledge share amongst other staff across SAMCo in relation to plant management.

 

About you

Essential qualifications:

  • Driver’s License (Mandatory).
  • Holder of construction industry ‘White Card’ (mandatory).
  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ)

Essential experience:

  • Significant experience in conducting testing and troubleshooting of HV switchgear and HV protection systems.
  • Proficiency in design and implementation of relay settings, logic, and schemes for systems (e.g., ABB, GE Multilin, Siemens, Schneider).
  • Proficiency in HV testing and fault finding of power transformer, HV circuit breaker and switchgears.
  • Strong HV switchgear and protection systems problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
