About the role

This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity based at Tarong Power Station in the South Burnett region.

We are seeking a Maintenance Trainer to join our HSE Training Team at Tarong Power Stations. In this pivotal role, you will design, deliver, and evaluate technical and HSE compliance training programmes that build workforce capability and support operational performance.

You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across our operational sites, as well as external partners, to ensure our training is innovative, compliant, and aligned with business needs. You’ll also play a key part in onboarding new employees and supporting the Training Coordinator as required.

 

Key activities include:

  • Manage, review, and update technical and HSE compliance training packages to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business needs
  • Maintain and update the site-wide training matrix, ensuring all competencies are current
  • Engage with stakeholders to review and confirm training requirements
  • Liaise with business units to support technical and HSE proficiency
  • Ensure training activities are recorded and auditable in corporate systems
  • Select and oversee external training providers, ensuring compliance with contract terms
  • Collaborate with the HSE Training counterpart at Stanwell Power Station for knowledge sharing and alignment
  • Prepare training progress reports and provide feedback to staff
  • Support the Training Coordinator during peak periods and provide relief cover as needed

 

About you

  • Trade qualification and/or current electrical licence (desirable)
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (required)
  • Trade qualification and current electrical licence (desirable)
  • At least five years’ experience in a senior trade role within the electricity supply or heavy industries
  • Skilled in developing eLearning using Articulate 360 and in utilising software platforms that support work control and permit-to-work compliance
  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and provide technical advice to a multidisciplinary workforce
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Skilled in contract management with external training providers
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Ellipse (or equivalent), and Learning Management Systems
