About the role

This is a full time opportunity that can be located in Brisbane CBD, Stanwell Power Stations or Tarong Power Station.

Stanwell’s Renewable Maintenance Services business unit is at the forefront of Queensland’s energy transition. Our vision is to provide unparalleled maintenance services across all renewable energy technologies in Queensland. As part of the Stanwell Asset Maintenance Company (SAMCo), you’ll help build technical capability in the renewable sector and contribute to future pathways for our people.

As an Advanced High Voltage Operation Authority (HVOA) Technician, you will play a critical role in establishing and embedding the SAMCo HVOA process across renewable energy sites. You’ll ensure all high-voltage operational activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements.

Key activities include:

  • Lead and implement the SAMCo HVOA process across renewable energy sites
  • Develop and maintain site-specific HV operational documentation and protocols
  • Administer and support the electronic Permit Administration System (ePAS)
  • Train, mentor, and support Switching Officers and Assistants in HV switching practices
  • Audit, review, and continuously improve HV operational processes for best practice and compliance
  • Foster a strong safety culture and contribute to operational excellence across Stanwell’s renewable portfolio.

About you

Licences, Qualifications & Education:

  • Electrical Trade Certificate and current Queensland Electrical Fitter/Mechanic Licence (or recognised equivalent).
  • High Voltage Operator (HVO) Switching Officer Certificate.
  • White Card – Construction Induction.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Significant expertise in ePAS maintenance and administration.
  • Significant experience in high-voltage operational processes within heavy industry or power generation.
  • Strong knowledge of permit-to-work systems, electrical safety legislation, and safe work practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and review site-specific switching manuals.
  • Proven experience in mentoring, training, and developing switching officers.
  • Experience auditing HV switching and safety processes.
  • Practical knowledge of asset operation, condition assessment, and fault finding across HV electrical equipment.
