About the role

This is a full time permanent opportunity located in Brisbane CBD.

The Compliance and Regulation Specialist will lead Stanwell’s Energy Markets related compliance function which encompasses Stanwell’s compliance with the National Electricity Market (NEM) bidding requirements, compliance with electricity retailing licenses and associated environmental schemes (Renewable Energy Target etc) and Stanwell’s Australian Financial Services (AFS) License conditions.

Key activities include:

  • Promote a culture of compliance amongst all levels of energy trading and retail team members: discuss compliance whenever possible, model attention to detail and treat all compliance breaches – whether minor or serious with due concern.
  • Develop overarching compliance policies and strategies in order to manage EM’s compliance risk and to guide energy traders and retail team members when developing their detailed compliance processes.
  • Be an expert on compliance matters, providing training and adhoc advice on compliance matters in conjunction with Stanwell’s legal team, whenever required.

About you

  • Experience in electricity, gas and/or environmental products markets with a focus on compliance.
  • High level understanding of the regulatory arrangements relating to the NEM and AFS as well as gas, environmental and carbon markets or ability to quickly acquire the same.
  • Detailed understanding of relevant areas of Commonwealth and State laws and regulations as well as jurisdictional retail license conditions impacting on NEM bidding and retail activities within EM or ability to quickly acquire the same.
  • Knowledge of AS/ISO 19600 Compliance Management Systems.
  • Degree in Business/Economics, Commerce, Law or similar discipline.
