About the role

This is a 2-year fixed term opportunity based at our Brisbane office – Major Project Procurement.

The Senior Sourcing Specialist plays a key role in delivery of Stanwell’s Major Renewable Energy projects. This involves leading multiple complex procurements for Central Queensland Hydrogen Project and other upcoming Renewable Energy projects.  You will support Procurement Business Partner – Major Project Procurement in the end-to-end procurement process of all complex renewable project related sourcing and commercial activities.

Your activities include:

  • Design, develop and plan procurement contracting strategies for complex and new technology/plant. 
  • Delivery of multiple major renewable energy projects sourcing activities including multifaceted complex EPCM, EPC, BOOT and BOO arrangements – leading the Sourcing event, market sounding, Contractor selection, evaluation, negotiations, execution, and handover to delivery.
  • Develop innovative procurement options and recommendations for renewable energy projects based on an expert understanding of the supply market and business needs.
  • Plan and lead negotiations with suppliers and contractors to get best outcome for Stanwell in line with Qld Procurement Policy (QPP). This will involve working with internal and external lawyers, commercial managers and influencing stakeholders and senior management.
  • Negotiate directly with key stakeholders, suppliers, and contractors during the tender process or where difficulties arise following award with regard to acquisition methods, pricing, deliveries, or product specification.

 About you

The ideal candidate will have extensive commercial and sourcing experience in an environment of complex contractual arrangements for capital intensive or greenfield development infrastructure builds. 

  • Experience working within the Australian construction industry with knowledge of Australian construction market industrial conditions.
  • Broad experience in the use of contract precedents and different styles of contracts for the procurement of goods and services, along with experience in preparing, issuing, recording, and evaluating tender documentation.
  • Knowledge in designing bespoke Sourcing events and contracts to suit complex greenfield projects and a track record in influencing and negotiating with suppliers on complex contracts in excess of $100 million,
  • A proven track record in influencing internal and external stakeholders, senior management, and line managers on complex issues.
  • Degree and/or Post Graduate Degree in a profession involved in Asset intensive industries or Commercial/Law equivalent experience.
