About the role

This is a full-time permanent opportunity that can be based at any of our Stanwell locations (Brisbane CBD, Tarong Power Stations or Stanwell Power Station).

The SCADA and Controls Systems Engineer, is crucial for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of renewable energy assets, maximising energy production, and minimising downtime through effective monitoring, maintenance, and control of SCADA systems and associated equipment. This role will also support SCADA and control systems across the broader renewable business which includes Stanwell’s Future Energy Innovation and Training Hub (FEITH).

Key activities include:

  • Support the design, development, and implementation of control algorithms for microgrid systems to optimise energy generation, distribution, and storage.
  • Implement real-time monitoring and remote-control capabilities for microgrid and control system assets.
  • Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems to ensure reliability and resilience.
  • Monitor microgrid performance and analyse data to identify opportunities for improvement, energy cost savings, and efficiency enhancements.
  • Implement security measures and protocols to protect SCADA and control systems from potential cyber threats and unauthorised access.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proven experience in SCADA software platforms, real time programming, automation and microgrid control system development, preferably in renewable energy industry or a similar field with transferrable skills.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices for industrial control systems.
  • The ability to communicate with clarity and influence across a broad range of stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Holder of a full driver’s license, white card, and willing to obtain first aid qualifications.
