About the role

We are seeking an experienced team leader to join the Site Services Team at the Tarong power stations.

The purpose of the Site Services Team Leader role is to provide work front organisation and supervision to the site services team at Tarong power stations.  This team is responsible for the delivery of facilities management, civil works, mobile plant management, fire protection systems and ash screening and offtake operations. This position ensures that maintenance activities and contractor executed works are carried out safely and effectively by providing frontline leadership to multi-facetted work teams.

This role will provide front line supervision to team members and will include time spent on execution works, and coordination of multiple streams of work simultaneously. The role is expected to have the capability to effectively utilise contract resources, manage timelines and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Key activities include:

  • Monitor daily, weekly and monthly work schedules to ensure compliance to MST’s and Statutory requirements.
  • Identify and engage suitable contractors to complete works where required, ensuring work scope is aligned with contractors’ capabilities and executed within the approved contract conditions.
  • Provide technical expertise and execution input into contract management and contract negotiation these processes.
  • Assist the superintendent in the development of site services area budgets and forecasts. Supports the team in effective management of expenditure in line with budget forecasts and expectations.
  • Develop, authorise and implement safe work method statements (HIRA/ SWA) to ensure plant and task hazards/ risks are effectively managed.
  • Deliver high standard work outcomes including safety, quality, time and cost. Encourage the team in sharing technical knowledge, efficient work practices and learnings.
  • Provide constructive feedback to direct reports through coaching and mentoring.

 

About you

  • Experience in leading, coaching and mentoring a multi-skilled team.
  • Qualifications in an appropriate mechanical or electrical trade or tertiary qualification are desirable.
  • Previous contract and contractor management experience
  • Completed (or ability to complete) training within the Safe Work Systems and obtain Safe Work Coordinator qualification.
  • Proven ability to work successfully within a project deliver environment and effectively manage contractor works.
