About the Position
Due to recent internal promotion, we have a vacancy for an Instrument and Control Technician to join the Electrical/I&C Team. The Instrument & Control Technician performs fault finding, investigations and analysis on technically complex plant, systems and processes. On a day to day basis, this diverse role carries out preventive and corrective maintenance, identifies and implements projects to ensure plant efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of equipment
- Contribute to Electrical Safety improvements as determined by best practice, legislation and standards
- Monitor and evaluate plant performance to advise opportunities for improvement in availability, reliability and cost effectiveness
- Complete assigned technical work in a safe and timely manner
Located at our Tarong Power Station in Nanango, this is a full-time 2 year fixed term role within the Generation Operations Business Unit offering a 4-day working week from Monday to Thursday, additional out of hours call out is required. This role reports directly to the Instrument & Control Team Leader. Dependant on your qualifications, skills and experience, this role can be offered as a Level 1, 2 or 3 Technician. At Level 3 the incumbent will have further responsibilities including investigations, plant optimization functions and project work.
We are looking for someone with both experience in a similar Instrumentation and Control role and heavy industry knowledge. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate an understanding of production processes in an industrial environment, have an Electrical trade qualification and a current electrical license, an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or recognised equivalent is highly desirable, however formal qualifications in Instrumentation and Control will also be considered.
In addition, you will be a self-starter with proficient verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate well in a team environment and demonstrate a willingness to train and mentor others in technical areas.
